Nature Needs Your Help

On average, 70% of our nature is unique to the rest of the world. So if it’s gone from here – it’s gone from everywhere. We all have a role to play.

Our unique nature is an important part of our national identity, our wellbeing, and our way of life.

Nature is our most important economic asset and largest stakeholder, sustaining industries like tourism, agriculture, forestry, energy, and fisheries. It provides us quality air to breathe, water to drink and soil to grow food.

Most New Zealanders think nature is in good shape. But nature is in trouble and needs your help.

Aotearoa is on the verge of an irreversible loss. Thousands of native species are facing extinction. Without bold action now, they will disappear forever. Did you know?

82%
of resident native birds are threatened or at risk
90%

Your donation does not replace core government funding. It will help DOC do more to save our native species and ecosystems than they are currently able to.

DOC will report every year on what your donations have enabled.

Your donation could help:

  • Control predators to protect threatened animals and plant species
  • Monitoring of protected areas for predators
  • Monitoring of threatened species to track their numbers and help ensure their survival
  • Help find new ways to control invasive weeds and animal pests that attack native species
  • Fund research on how to protect threatened species from diseases
